CHANGING JOBS?
This
is often a time when people consider the changes to their pension provision.
Key questions you should ask yourself are:
- What
pensions do I have already?
- What
pension arrangement am I being offered by my new company, if any?
- If
there is no scheme, how do I maintain my pension planning?
- How
long do I expect to be here?
- What
is my overall pension strategy:
Other
benefits you have may also significantly change:
- What
life assurance cover did you have in your old position?
- If
you were unable to work through sickness or injury, what provision for
a replacement income, did you have in your old job?
It
is important to get all the relevant information about the pension benefits
offered from your new employer before you start.
As
financial advisers we are trained in analysing and recognising the different
options available. With suitable authorisation, we can speak to employers
on our clients' behalf. We are also experienced, where there is flexibility,
in assisting in the negotiation of benefits, which may be more compatible
with our clients existing arrangements than those first offered.
